Redmond Clay bentonite (montmorillonite) powder – All Natural – DIY uses

Lets drink some more of that muddy water!

Oh yea, I love it!

redmond-clay-logo

So you have heard how great taking bentonite clay is for diarrhea, constipation, heartburn, stomachache, acid indigestion, acid reflux, and other digestive problems & more. But the thought of it just turns you off. Well for many drinking cloudy muddy water is an issue they can not get past & Redmond does carry them in capsule form, but I highly recommend you stay to taking Bentonite clay in water for best results. And It really is not as Redmondbad as it looks if you give it a chance & do it right. After all we have really been spoiled with lifeless filtered water, by adding Bentonite clay water is more like nature intended it to be, water is supposed to be drank, with all the original minerals & sediment included for far better health. Trust me drinking clay in a glass of water for many is like the worst thing to ever do, but it so does not have to be that way, buy again if you still struggle & just cant drink it capsules are an option.

The Directions Internal use on the container are: Take 1 to 2 tsp of Redmond clay with juice or water daily.

Redmond 1That doesn’t sound to bad now does it? Well it for sure to me does not sound bad but for many that would be a “Oh my goodness you want me to try & get down how much?” So here is what I suggest, start off with like 1/8 tsp of clay powder & stir into 4 to 8 ounces of water (or more if needed) & drink that amount every day until you are used to it, then start adding another 1/8 tsp every day or so until you get to 1 tsp. Or if you start getting desired results from less than 1 tsp just stay to that amount, or continue to slowly build to 2 tbsp if needed.

I have to admit this Redmond clay is nice & smooth & not at all gritty (at least for me) It is also less muddy & lighter in color looking than my normal brand. But so far it works just as well & I can tell by taste that it is a good quality clay. But I have tried a lot of brands of clay that were junk, had additives, were not pure & that tasted & felt funky. So this Redmond clay is only the 3rd brand that has been totally awesome enough for me to say,” yes this one is great”.

How do I take it, I add about 1/2 tsp to about 8 oz of water & we pass it around (me & my kids sharing) twice a day. I also add several pinches to our gallon glass jug of water we dink.

Not only is Redmond clay great to take, it also is great for skin & hair. Mix with enough water to create a paste & make a face mask, apply & leave on until dry & wash off. You can use this same mixture as a hair mask before washing your hair, great for detoxing hair & scalp & to remove hair products. You can also add a tbsp or 2 to your bath water for a great detox & skin softening effect & as a plus it can help remove toxins from the bath water.

DIY gentle effective naturally antibacterial hand/body washing recipe (Powder – Soap)

Here’s a super simple, super cheap, super easy-to-make in your own kitchen, green body scrub and soap alternative for hands that you can use daily.

Get ready to start of 2014 with less toxins

Toxic Free 2014 posts

baking sodaThis very gentle hand & body washing soap alternative that keeps your hands soft is made easily with baking soda &  essential oils of choice.

hand wash baking sodaBaking soda hand washing: We do not use soap on our body or shampoo etc often at all, we tend to mainly use just baking soda for hands, face, body & hair, & it works amazing while being gentile & effective. Baking soda is great alone or mixed with essential oils to the baking soda like tea tree, lavender, lemon, orange, rosemary, eucalyptus, cinnamon, clove etc. (or germ fighter by Plant Therapy, compare to thieves oil) you can also add more than 1 essential oil to create a combo you love, our favorite is Lemon, Tea tree & Eucalyptus.

This powder works great for young & old alike & great for sensitive skin & skin issues, skin rashes, dry skin, oily skin on & on. Baking soda naturally balances PH of the skin, and  essential oils are antibacterial without the toxins. (A teen favorite  & family favorite for mixing & using, so this makes this a Cheree’s Favorite too)

Let the kids help you mix this up, they love to help, it is safe for them to help & they will get a mini aromatherapy dose & it is great for homeschool to show them how to mix cleaners & other DIY items to be used during school hours & in the classroom. As a matter of fact my kids call this our school soap 🙂

When baking soda is combined with water the resulting reaction turns baking soda into a natural non toxic PH balancing mild antiseptic, according to the textbook “Biology: Life on Earth with Physiology book.” And it is rare for anyone to have an allergic reaction because its only ingredients are sodium, hydrogen carbon and oxygen.

NEWSFLASH: Baking soda does not contain aluminum here & here
Info straight from Arm & Hammer’s Facebook page, where they responded to a question about Aluminum: Arm & Hammer Thanks for your question. We are happy to tell you that ARM & HAMMER Baking Soda does not contain aluminum, parabens, colorants or animal-derived ingredients. ARM & HAMMER Baking Soda is pure, versatile, effective, safe, and affordable for baking, household and personal care uses. Thanks for being an ARM & HAMMER fan!

Lets get mixing:

baking soda body washHow to: We use an empty parmesan cheese shaker I add one box of baking soda to it & sit it by the sink (there is also a shaker on the tub because we use it in the shower & bath) I suggest trying it without the essential oils first if you are sensitive to scents or prone to hives or skin issues. If adding the essential oils add 10 to 20 drops (or more) & work into all of the baking soda with a fork.

To wash hands: simply wet hands & sprinkle on the baking soda rub around on hands just like you would soap then wash off, you will fast figure out how much you need.

For body: Use the same way in bath or shower, rub gently on wet skin & rinse.

For hair: sprinkle about 1 tsp into several cups of warm water, stir till dissolved & add to wet hair, work in, rinse then repeat if needed (for more shampoo ideas & conditioner ideas go here)

For a moisturizing body wash: simply add a bit of raw coconut oil to the palm of your hand & shake some of your baking soda into your hand, rub together to mix then wash, hands, face, body, feet whatever & use warm water to wash off.

Great for hunters: If you just use baking soda to wash hands with it is a great no scent options for hunters, my husband loves it. (Options to add epsom salt, borax)

Also great to carry Camping: Great for easy washing of hands & body while camping, & it can be used to wash dishes too.

A DIY Life: Deep cleaning skin and face wash – revives – tingling – skin issues

Deep cleaning skin and face wash – revives – tingling (skin issues)

Skin & face deep cleaning.

Refreshing & tingling deep cleaning skin & face wash that is great for any skin type but is also great for dry skin, oily skin, eczema, psoriasis , acne, blackheads & blemishes.

I will share several versions & you can use the one that works best for you or create your own version, one of the great things about DIY beauty is the measurements are just guides, you can customize it to fit what works for you. maybe you want it thicker, or maybe you want it thinner. maybe you want to change something else, go ahead!

We just mix right in our palm for each use, so these recipes are for small amounts, you can make a larger batch & keep in an airtight container & see how that works. These will sting if they get in your eyes.

Recipe #1: 3 parts baking soda 1 part warm water & 1 or 2 drops of eucalyptus essential oil, rub together in your hand & create a paste then rub gently & evenly in circles on wet skin/face, let sit a few minutes & wash off with warm water. (eucalyptus can be strong so I do recommend only 1 drop & if it is to strong for your skin use peppermint essential oil instead. Options: add 1 drop Lemon &/or Orange essential oils, use Borax instead of baking soda or both.

Recipe #2:  3 parts baking soda 1 part warm water & 1 or 2 drops of Olbas bath or Olbas massage oil, rub together in your hand & create a paste then rub gently & evenly in circles on wet skin/face, let sit a few minutes & wash off with warm water. This is very Face Collagetingling & refreshing, just make sure to not add to much Olbas. Options: 1 part raw coconut oil instead of water (or another raw oil of choice or body butter)

Recipe #3:  3 parts Borax, 1 part water, 1 drop Acne-Fighter Synergy or 1 drop of Anti-Eczema Synergy rub together in your hand & create a paste then rub gently & evenly in circles on wet skin/face, let sit a few minutes & wash off with warm water. Options: Use baking soda instead of Borax or both, Use essential oil of choice.

Recipe #4: 3 parts baking soda 1 part natural liquid soap, 1 drop Germ-Fighter Synergy rub together in your hand & create a paste then rub gently & evenly in circles on wet skin/face, let sit a few minutes & wash off with warm water. Options: or use Immune-Aid Synergy. Ideas for natural liquid soap you can use Castle soap, Tropical Traditions liquid or foam, or All Terrain Wonder wash.

Recipe #5:  3 parts baking soda, 1 part virgin coconut oil or body butter, 1 to 2 drops essential oil of choice. rub together in your hand & create a paste then rub gently & evenly in circles on wet skin/face, let sit a few minutes & wash off with warm water. Options: for essential oils use Eucalyptus & lemon, or Lavender & peppermint, or Rosemary, or use any of the other oils suggested above or whatever works best for your skin & is not to strong for you. Use warm water instead of oil

Recipe #6:  3 parts baking soda 1 part clay, 1 drop of any oil of choice & enough warm water to make a paste,  rub together in your hand & create a paste then rub gently & evenly in circles on wet skin/face, let sit a few minutes & wash off with warm water. Options: Don’t use baking soda just use clay, you do not have to use essential oil, use colloidal silver or peroxide instead of water. For clay choices any bentonite clay is fine or use Terramin powder or Earths living clay paste.

Recipe #6: 2 parts baking soda, 1 part Activated Charcoal & enough warm water to make a paste,  rub together in your hand & create a paste then rub gently & evenly in circles on wet skin/face, let sit a few minutes & wash off with warm water. Options: Essential oils of choice, Borax instead of baking soda, raw oil of choice etc. (activated charcoal review & uses blog post coming soon)

As you can tell you have lots of options for what works best for your face & skin.

If you need more moisturizing after you wash your skin or face simply rub on some virgin coconut oil, palm shortening or body butter. Or Spritz skin with Rose water or other floral water.
