Why do I love Skinny Coconut oil & Why have I added it to my “Cheree’s Favorites” list? The quality is apparent from the first moment I opened the jar, but then I tasted it & it was the perfect coconut oil, creamy & smooth with just the right amount of coconut taste. I utter the words that it was eating “coconut pudding”, my daughter says that she is pretty sure the things I say about coconut oil are just strange lol. But why don’t you give it a try & decide for yourself just how amazing Skinny coconut oil is. If you have not been getting the desired results you were looking for from taking coconut oil & from oil pulling with coconut oil it can be the brand you are using, so I am glad to know of another great brand to tell my fans about trying.

I find myself totally worrying about running out of Skinny Coconut oil, yes it is that great & so I must add it to my “Family Wishlist”. I think I am addicted to the unique smoothness of Skinny. Some recipes using Skinny coconut oil:

(about containers I use)

Basic deodorant

• 1 part baking soda
• 1 part corn starch
• 1 part room temp Skinny coconut oil
• Mix & store in airtight container

DIY cream deodorant 
1/3 cup Starch
1/3 cup Baking Soda
5 to 10 drops of Antibacterial Essential Oil (tea tree, lavender, or eucalyptus or a combo)
5 to 10 drops of Antifungal Essential Oil (tea tree, peppermint, sandalwood, or eucalyptus or a combo)1 to 2 tablespoons Vitamin E Oil, Wheat Germ oil or Olive oil
3 tablespoons Skinny Coconut Oil

Soften coconut oil if it is hard, start off adding 1 tablespoon of Vitamin E & increase if desired. Then mix all together & store in an air tight container. (this one my teens love) Rub with fingers on underarms.

Toothpaste 
1 part baking soda & 1 part Skinny coconut oil , to 2 drops peppermint essential oil. Mix & store in airtight container.

Toothpaste #2
2 parts baking soda & 2 parts Skinny coconut oil to 1 part natural unrefined salt (options, add essential oil of choice) Mix & store in airtight container.

Toothpaste #3
2 parts baking soda & 2 parts Skinny coconut oil to 1 part edible clay powder  & 1 part ground cloves the spice (or clove essential oil) Mix & store in airtight container.

If you have been following me any length of time you already know I am crazy for coconut oil, we use it daily cooking, baking, for skin, hair, deodorant & toothpaste etc. And by far my favorite brand of coconut oil is Tropical Traditions Gold Label Virgin coconut oil. So me picking these 2 products to review next might have just been a given.

Review time:

So why coconut oil for hair? well for us because it is amazing & goes so well with our no poo routine. We apply it to wet hair after a shower, we just add a bit to our fingers rub then rake through our hair with our fingers, for me a tiny bit goes a long hair, but one of my daughters & one of my sons can easily get dry hair & they get dandruff easily so they repeat the process several times & their hair never appears greasy. Me if I add just a touch too much mine looks greasy, so learn what works best for you.

We also love to use it as a pre conditioner or a hot oil treatment every few weeks. for pre treating I just add to my dry hair small amounts at a time & brush through (rub some on your face &/or skin at the same time, you will love it), I wait about 20 minutes & get in the shower & wash as normal, it might take a few washing to get it out but it is so worth it. For hot oil treatment my girls love to run hot/warm water over their hair that they added the coconut oil for hair & apple cider vinegar, then brush through & add  a hot towel fresh out of the dryer to their hair & wait 20 minutes then wash as normal (several washing maybe needed).

Another favorite is to add just a bit to our fingers & rub on the ends of our hair the day after washing & brush through, again be mindful of how much to put on your own hair a little goes a long way, my girls like this as a kinda booster between washings & love the shine it gives them & the way it helps flyaway hair.

So how did the Gold Label Virgin Coconut Oil For Hair Treatment and Coconut Oil for Hair do when used for these 3 methods, they both worked great, my love of Tropical Traditions & there products continues.

Coconut oil is a very unique hair oil. This versatile, low molecular weight oil is able to leverage its traditional oil status to seal the hair, but complements this sealing capacity with a strong affinity for hair proteins not found in other hair oils. Coconut oil benefits black hair in two important ways. First, coconut oil’s hydrophobic oil characteristics allow it to inhibit the penetration of water from the surrounding air and environment. Second, coconut oil is able to bind to the natural protein structure of the hair. This helps the hair retain its natural moisture content and reinforces the hair fiber, making it stronger.¹

Suggested Uses:

For dry scalp: Rub into hair and scalp at least 30 minutes before showering, or before bed at night. Wear a shower cap or towel to protect bedding.

As a hair conditioner: Rub into the ends of your hair after washing, while the hair is still wet. Apply as needed, working towards the scalp. It can also be used as a pre-wash hair treatment applying just before showering.

Review time:

Have I said lately how awesome Tropical Traditions Customer service is & how fast they ship? They are so awesome that it makes the whole tropical Traditions experience positive & makes them one of my favorite places to order from.

OK so I picked Tea Tree as the scent for us to try, I did this because we love Tea Tree & love its ability to clean & sanitize. The foaming hand soap is also available in Lavender & unscented.

My package arrived by FedEx safe as always & again my kids came running for the package opening, you would think it was some wonderful gift for them, not a natural soap for me to blog about, but that is how our family rolls. As I pull the soap out of the box they all got excited, I think their brains all at the same time locked on foaming (as in suds). As mentioned above kids love suds!

So right away we tried it out on our hands & we all loved it, but my husband was not home yet & he will be the ultimate test of how well this soap works, he is a factory worker that comes home black as black. So after he got home he washed his hands (a bit reluctantly) since as I have said before he is not all that deep into natural & really sometimes gets tired of all the natural products everywhere rather they are DIY or not. But he is coming around more & more, so he has recently been a bit more willing to try them. So he tried it & loved it & it cut through the grimy blackness on his hands.

We sat it on the kitchen sink for a few days & used it for washing hands took cook etc. Then we moved it into the bathroom so we could use it there & for any guest that stop by.

What alternative uses did I find?

Shaving: We discovered that shaving with the foaming hand soap is great, & even my teen daughter that already loved using the Tropical Traditions Dish liquid to shave with loves the foaming  hand soap. It left our skin nice & soft with a close shave & no razor burn & no issues for anyone with sensitive skin & no hives or rashes. I have not got my husband to shave with it yet, but when I mentioned it he seemed interested, so maybe soon he will try it, so stay tuned.

Dog wash: We also discovered this foaming hand soap made a great doggy wash, it left our little dogs skin soft & not dry, and because of the tea tree oil it killed fleas too.

Spot stain remover: I used the foaming soap, a bit of baking soda & a toothbrush to effectively remove various stains from clothing before washing. It could also be used on some upholstery or mattresses (spot check first).

Eye glasses wash: The foaming soap & some hot water worked great for those times my glasses needed to be thoroughly cleaned.
