Joy the Baker Homemade Decadence Cookbook Written by Joy Wilson (book review)

Irresistibly Sweet, Salty, Gooey, Sticky, Fluffy, Creamy, Crunchy Treats.

When you have a teenager in the house that loves to cook & bake plus she is also taking Culinary Arts as an elective joy the bakerfor high school good imaginative cookbooks are a must. From the moment this cookbook arrived both of us have had our face in the book reading recipes saying, “Oh yeah I am so making that”.

If you are looking for perfect sweet pairings you can make yourself this is the book for you, & you can customize the recipes to fit your likes, dislikes, diet & needs. The subjects it covers are -Brunch-, -Cookies, Brownies & Bars-, -Pies, Crumbles & Cobblers-, -Layer Cakes, Cupcakes & Skillet Cakes- & -Ice Cream Social-. First let me tell you the cover makes your mouth water, or at least it does mine, I have always loved pretzels paired with sweets. The picture  is a cake with pretzels on the outside, so yumm! So if you have a sweet tooth & love to bake check out this cookbook.

My daughter decided the very first thing she would make from Joy the Baker Homemade Decadence Cookbook was -Yeasted Overnight Pancakes-. She made a few substitutions for our way of eating like using almond milk instead of whole milk, Einkorn flour to replace flour, some whole unbleached sugar & yacon syrup to replace the sugar, natural unrefined salt,  etc. The next morning she got up early to unwrap them & let them get to room temp so she could cook breakfast for her 5 siblings, she is 14 & so that is a feat in itself. My other kids liked the pancakes so much most ate them without syrup saying they were amazing, they either used butter or coconut oil on them & just ate. I did use syrup but not much was needed & they were very yumm!

Joy Wilson believes that everything is better with pie. And caramel. And definitely ice cream. Her world is pretty sweet: she dabbles daily in butter and sugar as her blogging alter ego, Joy the Baker. Her new book, Joy the Baker Homemade Decadence, is packed with 125 of Joy’s favorite, supereasy, most over-the-top, totally delicious treats, such as Dark Chocolate, Pistachio, and Smoked Sea Salt Cookies; Butterscotch Cream Pie with Thyme-Marshmallow Meringue; Mint Chocolate Chip Cake; and Strawberry Cheesecake Ice Cream. After all, every day is an opportunity for sweets.
