Heavy Duty Extra Strength DIY Deodorant.
Effective, strong for a man or a woman, yet gentle enough for sensitive skin & daily use.
Great for all ages from Pre-Teens, Teens & all the way up.
Even though DIY deodorant has saved many from the world of toxic deodorant & has finally offered people natural deodorant that works. But as more & more people are trying to avoid commercial deodorants & that leads them down the road to natural deodorants & trust me I know about going that route & how most so-called natural deodorants either leave you smelly or they still have questionable ingredients.
So then you start looking into DIY & in all honestly that is usually where the journey ends happily for many since almost all find what they are looking for, natural, cheap & effective deodorant. That is why I share many recipes here in my deodorant blog category. So many of my fans tell me they have changed the world to a less smelly place. Everything from creams, powders & sprays, something for everyone right?
Well not so fast, some still just do not find an effective deodorant to use & well my teenage daughter was right there with you, hoping that as she tried each recipe one would be that amazing super strength miracle she was looking for.
Then finally after lots of trial & error & lots of research we found it, the deodorant that is teen approved & husband approved to, that has been tested it the heat of a factory & a sweaty construction job yet leaves you feeling fresh & is not to strong for daily use.
So today I will tell you how to turn almost any DIY deodorant into an extra strength deodorant in just seconds & so far everyone who has tried it proclaims it amazing. If DIY deodorant already works for you this post is not for you, but if nothing works I am happy to share using a simple essential oil named Litsea Cubeba (or May Chang) to change all that & give you effective deodorant.
You know that whole line about strong enough for a man but made for a woman? well with this essential oil that can be true but even your man can use it.
I have told you before about the amazing quality of Florihana essential oils that you can buy at great prices. Litsea Cubeba/May chang will take your DIY deodorant to Extra Strength yet still gentle enough for sensitive skin in just a few drops.
Litsea Cubeba is kinda a lemony scent or as my kids call it a lemon candy scent, to me it is even maybe a milder version of a lemon grass/lemon balm scent but nobody else here agrees with that, they are sticking with lemon candy scent. So when I looked up how others described the scent I found this & it perfectly describes it if you ask me: Litsea Cubeba/May Chang has a kinda sweet & spicy, lemony, citrusy aroma with milder vegetative like notes.
This little essential oil is used in many soaps for skin issues & in fragrances & is also used to treat issues like asthma, allergies, anxiety, arrhythmia problems, acne, pimples, blackheads, shrinks pores, oily skin, dermatitis, bronchitis, cough, cold, flu & other respiratory issues (it is anti-spasmodic), fungal infections, digestive issues, depression, fatigue, chills, insomnia, headaches, migraines, stress, sooth the nervous system. athletes foot, muscular pains & aches & litsea cubeba has no risk of photo sensitivity. Litsea cubeba is also great for warding of mosquito & fleas, so it would be great used in DIY pest control & in your DIY bug repellent. It has shown some promise in treating lung cancer to the point it is actually being studied for using it in the treatment of lung cancer. But how can it help your smelly arm pits that wont stop smelling no matter what?
Litsea Cubeba is anti-septic, anti-biotic, anti-fungal & anti-viral, natural deodorizer & is said to be non-irritating, all this makes it perfect for mild yet extra strength odor control for your body & your under arms as a bonus. litsea cubeba reduces excess perspiration on top of all that (score) so yes it is the perfect essential oil for deodorant. If the scent of the litsea cubeba is to strong for you mix it with tea tree oil, not only do the 2 together make a powerful combo for everything from body care to cleaning, the combo of the tea tree oil & the litsea cubeba creates a milder scent that can be more pleasing for those looking for a less lemongrass like scent.
Litsea Cubeba is known as tranquility oil, & has the ability to help promote physical relaxation relieving fatigue & lethargy. It is also known for promoting mental calm providing clarity when feeling nervous, stressed, anxious or confused.
Warnings: Do not use litsea cubeba on young children & do not use during pregnancy without first researching & talking to your DR.
Litsea Cubeba helps control excessive perspiration on any part of the body, especially underarms while at the same time it reduces bacteria helping to prevent & eliminate body odor.
As I said you can go to any of my other DIY deodorant recipes here on my blog & simply use litsea cubeba either alone or with tea tree oil instead of other essential oils or you can try one of the below recipes.
Powder: 6 tbsp organic corn starch (or potato starch) to 2 tbsp baking soda, add in 20 to 30 drops of Litsea Cubeba, mix together with a fork making sure to break up any lumps, store in an airtight container, use fingers or cotton ball to apply to wet underarms.
Options to add: Tea tree oil,Terramin clay, activated charcoal powder.
Cream: 4 tbsp organic corn starch (or potato starch) to 4 tbsp baking soda, & 4 tbsp raw coconut oil add in 20 to 30 drops of Litsea Cubeba combine, you may need to add more or less of the coconut oil to get the desired consistency. Store in airtight container, apply to underarms with fingers.
Options to add: Tea tree oil, other essential oils.
Spray liquid: Get a smaller spray misting bottle, add 1 pinch of baking soda & almost fill bottle with warm, not hot water & shake till baking soda is dissolved, then add about 20 drops of Litsea Cubeba (more or less). Simply spray on underarms as needed.
Options: Tea tree oil, And instead of baking soda water you can use colloidal silver, or peroxide, or vinegar or lemon juice or lime juice or rubbing alcohol or grain alcohol or real witch Hazel or a combo of liquids of choice (do not mix colloidal silver & peroxide).
You can even use the powder after spraying if you want to double up & or simply just want to use both the spray & the powder, or use the spray with the cream, or use the powder with the cream, whatever works for you.
