If you have any kind & I do mean any kind of skin issue break out the raw coconut oil & use it, from rashes, to hives, to poison ivy, body butter 4eczema, psoriasis, contact dermatitis, calluses, corns, bug bites you name it. But what else do I pull out the coconut oil for, well  pink eye, ear aches, cuts, bruises, sunburn, burns, nail fungus, athletes foot, wrinkles, scars, toothache, toothpaste, chapped lips, personal lubricant, massage oil, foot cream, hair pre-conditioner, deodorant(& many more). Great for kids, teens & adults. Use your imagination, use raw coconut oil alone or with other natural items, & Above all try it as body butter!

Great for children & Adults, just remember to be careful with some essential oils with children.

Body butter what?: Body butter or whipped coconut oil, or just simply a DIY beauty cream that can be used for oh so much. Great for wrinkles, sunscreen, skin lotion, night cream, heck day cream or anytime cream, slather it on, rub it on, just get it on 🙂 I even use it to shave with. Body butter It is simply whipped oil (coconut oil as the main ingredient) & it is sooth as butter. Body butter is more like a whipped butter or a cream consistency, but you can make it thinner & slightly thicker by what you add, for thicker use more solid raw coconut oil. There is no real science to what you add, add the amount of what you want, blend it & use it, make it the consistency you desire by playing around with it.TT gold label

The most important ingredient, coconut oil: Anytime you can it is always best to use raw (Virgin) unrefined coconut oil, I use Tropical Traditions Gold Label Virgin Coconut oil & love it so much, so of course I recommend it.

Body Butter basics: A couple of weeks ago I shared a basic body butter recipe & so many fans loved it I knew I had to share a few of my body butter ideas with all of you. The basic body butter recipe is to just whip solid coconut oil with no extras until it is like cream & store in a jar & use it, or you can add 1 tsp. to 1 tbsp. of liquid oil of choice to 1 cup or so of raw coconut oil & whip it up. Oils can be almost any carrier oil, sweet almond oil, olive oil, wheat germ oil, vitamin E oil, oil combos, black seed oil, etc, shea butter can also be a great replacement for the coconut oil or palm shortening if you prefer or can be added into any of the recipes. To whip body butter use a wire whisk, hand mixer, stand mixer, blender, food processor or whatever.

Did you know natural oils have natural SPF & you can use these to create your own Body Butter/Sunscreen, more info on making sunscreen here. More info on oils below.

Now it is time for my body butters!

body butter1I like to use the hand mixer with just one beater on it, & I add my ingredients in a pint or quart jar depending on how much I am making. I fill the jar 3/4 of the way full with the solid coconut oil & I add the other ingredients on top & blend right inside the jar forbody butter2 about 3 minutes whipping up into body butter. Then I simply add another scoop if needed of the raw coconut oil & mix again for a minute or 2, when finished just screw the lid on, the only clean up is the one beater. So you are mixing right in your storing container. Stays good about a year, does not need to be refrigerated but can melt if it gets to warm..

Our favorite body butter: 3/4 cup solid coconut oil, 3/4 cup Palm Shortening & your favorite essential oils like Lavender or orange. Mix as directed above. We also like to do this mixture with a tbsp. of colloidal silver added. Or we add eucalyptus & peppermint & use as avapor rub. Sometimes I also add in 1 tbsp. of wheat germ oil.

Body Butter #1: Add 1 tsp. to 1 tbsp. of wheat germ oil to 1 or so cups of solid coconut oil, optional add 5 to 20 drops of essential oil of choice like Lavender or Rosemary. Mix as directed above.

Body Butter #2: Add 1/2 tsp. wheat germ oil, 1/2 tsp. sweet almond oil, 1/2 tsp. olive oil to 1 or so cups of solid coconut oil. optional add 5 to 20 drops of essential oil of choice. Mix as directed above. My Teens Favorite

Body Butter #1B or #2B (soothing, cooling & healing): Add ingredients from #1 or #2 recipe plus add 1 to 2 tbsp. of Rosewater & 1 to 2 tbsp. of colloidal silver & 1 pinch of Epsom salt. Teen Approved (they love it) This one does not have as long of a shelf life because of the rosewater, so do not let it get hot (room temp is fine) & try to use it within 3 to 4 weeks (or less). For a longer shelf life use rose oil. (when adding floral water make sure you add colloidal silver to keep the floral water from spoiling to fast & make sure to use within a month & to not let the mixture get hot).

Body Butter #3 (bug bite & skin irritation favorite): Add 2 to 3 tbsp. Plantain water or Plantain oil & 1 tbsp. Witch Hazel to 1 cup of solid coconut oil & 2 tsp colloidal silver. optional add 5 to 20 drops of essential oil of choice. Mix as directed above. If you use Plantain water this will not have as long of a shelf life, so do not let it get hot (room temp is fine) & try to use it within 3 to 4 weeks (or less). For the longer shelf life use Plantain oil. (when adding plantain water make sure you add colloidal silver to keep the water from spoiling to fast & make sure to use within a month & to not let the mixture get hot).

body butter 5Body Butter #4: Add 1 tsp. to 3 tbsp. of floral infused oil to 1 cup solid coconut oil. Mix as directed above.

Body Butter #5: Add 10 drops tea tree oil, 10 drops lavender essential oil & optional 10 drops of eucalyptus or peppermint essential oil, 1 tsp. of carrier oil to 1 cup of solid coconut oil. Mix as directed above. (or simply use essential oil combo of choice)

Body Butter #6: Add 3 to 4 tbsp. of colloidal silver to 1 cup of solid coconut oil. Mix as directed above.body butter 3

Body Butter #7: Add 2 to 4 tbsp. of aloe gel to 1 cup of solid coconut oil 2 tsp of colloidal silver. Mix as directed above. (when adding aloe gel make sure you add colloidal silver to keep the aloe from spoiling to fast & make sure to use within a month & to not let the mixture get hot).

Body Butter #8 (great for pain & to absorb magnesium): Add 1 tbsp. of Epsom salt to 4 tbsp. of water & stir till dissolved, add to one cup of solid coconut oil. Mix as directed above. This one might leave a bit of residue behind, & sometimes it might separate a bit.

Body butter #9 (Chest rub/vapor rub): Add 5 to 10 drops Eucalyptus, & 5 to 10 drops peppermint oil (or spearmint), 1 tsp. to 1 tbsp. of a carrier oil, to 1 cup of solid coconut oil. Mix as directed above, My kids love this

Body butter #10 (for dry feet & elbows): Add 10 to 15 drops lemon or citrus essential oil, 1/8 to 1/4 cup of cocoa butter, 1 tbsp. of wheat germ oil, vitamin E oil or Hemp oil in 1 cup of solid coconut oil. Mix as directed above.

Favorite- Body Butter #11: 1 cup solid coconut oil, 20 drops jojoba oil, 20 drops argan oil, 20 drops emu oil & 20 drops rosehip seed oil. Mix as directed.  (this was my brand new recipe for body butter I just made 5/2014 & it has fast become my favorite for face, hands, lips, feet, elbows you name it & it is amazing for skin health)

Body Butter #12: Get creative & make your own & share it with us

Fan Submitted Body butter: Sabina R. I made equal parts of olive oil, beef tallow and coconut oil mix, didn’t make butter (not sure it’d be creamy?) but it’s fantastic! Love using it! It’s not greasy at all!!! My reply to Sabina: use less or no olive oil & more coconut oil to make it creamier.

Tip, not used just for body butter for butter & margarine replacement too:  This is also great to replace margarine on any foods (or replace butter), simply mix 1 to 2 tbsp. of olive oil with the 1 cup of solid coconut oil, mix as directed above. Spread on toast, pancakes, in oatmeal, in smoothies etc. For a sweet Honey version add 1 tbsp. of raw honey, 1 tbsp. of olive oil to the solid coconut oil. Again get creative.
